SeedStar Specialty Coffee is an agribusiness rooted in the highlands of Mbale, Uganda, that transforms locally-grown Arabica beans into world-class specialty coffee. In the region where it operates, many smallholder farmers struggle with low yields, poor post-harvest practices, and limited access to premium markets. As a result, farmers often sell their coffee at low prices to intermediaries, receiving little return for their effort. Recognizing both the economic loss and the untapped quality potential, SeedStar intervenes by offering training, agronomy support, and direct market access. Today, the company not only uplifts local farmers with stable, premium-price opportunities but also ensures environmental stewardship through sustainable drying, traceability practices, and circular use of byproducts.
